The Cannabis breeder behind Serious Seeds, Simon, is responsible for the Cannabis genetics sold by the seed bank. He studied biology at one of the universities in Amsterdam. To begin with he was always a non-smoker of tobacco, and therefore also marihuana, because in Holland it is common practice to mix the latter with tobacco to roll a Cannabis joint. Simon discovered the merits of smoking pure marijuana after his studies whilst traveling through Africa in 1986. From that moment on he started collecting Cannabis seeds and back in Holland he immediately started growing them out for personal pleasure crossing what he thought were the best Cannabis plants seemed a natural follow up. Contact with other Cannabis growers gave him access to different Cannabis strains from which he also selected the best Cannabis plants.

The genetic background of this material was not always clearly known. Simon was teaching biology at a high school when Alan Dronkers asked him to come and work at Sensi Seeds. It was a serious career change but one he has never regretted. In 1994 after a period working for Sensi Seeds he decided to leave and start his own Cannabis seed company with some American cannabis refugees. That year AK-47 and Chronic both won prices at the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. After the show the initial Cannabis seed company ended and in 1995 Serious Seeds was founded.

SERIOUS SEEDS

It has always been Serious Seeds policy to have the cannabis grown from the different Cannabis seeds they sell available in some of Amsterdam best coffee shops to help gauge opinion. The Greenhouse Coffee Shop is one which has carried Serious Seeds cannabis from the start in 1995 to this date. The Greenhouse Coffeeshop won a Cannabis Cup in 1995 with the Kali Mist grown by Serious Seeds.

In 1996 another famous Amsterdam coffeeshop the ‘Dampkring’ won the Overall Cup at that years Cannabis Cup with the newest Serious Seeds strain White Russian. Another supplier of Serious Seeds cannabis from early on was The Blue Bird and also more recently The Dread Rock.

Serious Seeds Cannabis Strains. Auto Seeds Bank takes a closer look at the history of Serious Seeds.

Serious Seeds, are a Cannabis Seeds Company based in Amsterdam, Holland. With a limited range of only three Feminised and five Regular Cannabis Strains,it would be easy to think, that Serious Seeds were just another little Cannabis Seed Company. This,however,could not be further from the truth, as you will understand as you read on further.

The Cannabis Breeder and major driving force behind Serious Seeds, is a man called Simon. He is the one who is responsible for the Cannabis genetics, and ultimately the Cannabis Seed Collection on sale from Serious Seeds.It was in 1986, that Simon first started to collect Cannabis Seeds, after travelling through Africa enjoying the benefits of smoking pure Marijuana, rather than the conventional method of mixing it with tobacco.

Once back in Holland, Simon began cultivating what he believed to be the best of his Cannabis Seeds to provide himself with his own personal Cannabis supply. Contact with other Cannabis Growers gave him access to other Cannabis Strains, and he selected the best of these to add to his collection.

After the Cup, the initial Company was dissolved, and in it's place Serious Seeds were formed. From it's formation in 1995, Serious Seeds have worked under the company directive, that Cannabis grown from their Cannabis Seeds should always be readily available in some of Amsterdam's best Coffeeshops. This would help Serious Seeds to gauge public opinion about that Cannabis Strain.

One of the first Coffeeshops to stock Serious Seeds Cannabis was the Greenhouse Coffeeshop, and still does to this day. In 1995 the Greenhouse Coffeeshop won a Cannabis Cup with Kali Mist, grown by Serious Seeds. The following year in 1996, the Dampring, another very famous Amsterdam Coffee Shop,won the overall Cannabis Cup, this time with the latest Cannabis Strain from Serious Seeds called White Russian.

Serious Seeds have always been committed to providing fresh,seeds that produce stable Cannabis Plants. Serious Seeds have always placed quality above quantity. This has resulted in them offering a very select range of Cannabis seeds. However, these are some of the best Cannabis seeds available.

Simon finished his studies at the University of Amsterdam,where he studied Biology, and began to teach at one of the local High Schools in the area. It was from here that he was recruited by Alan Dronkers of Sensi Seed Bank, and from then on Simon's career took a totally different path to the academic one that he had set out on.Simon worked for Sensi Seed Bank till 1994, when, along with some American refugees, he formed his own Cannabis Seed Company. That year both the AK 47 and Chronic, both won prizes at the Cannabis Cup.
